Ready for school...

Alex is in preschool at the Butterfly School three days a week now! She is such a big girl. Of course her first day of school was the day I went into labor. She is learning so much. She comes home singing songs in Spanish and knows the months of the year, etc. She loves all of her friends and seems to be "the busy child"-- as usual!

Here is a funny pic of Alex dressing herself for school. I love Carson just sprawled out on the floor next to her....this is our reality!

Our girl!

Alex has been staying very busy the past few weeks! Apparently, she is self conscious and checks out her hiney to make sure it looks cute. HA! She loves playing dress up and she asks Mommy to paint her nails on a daily basis. High maintenance at three!
Alex had Kaitlyn over for a playdate this past Friday and they had so much fun. They are best friends. They are so great together...of course, they act more like sisters sometimes. They are working on sharing but otherwise they are two peas in a pod!
Alex is an awesome big sister to Carson. In fact she introduced her "new baby sister" to the entire pre-school class. She is such a mess! She knows she has a baby brother. She reads him stories, sings to him, and gives him a paci in the car. We couldn't ask for more!

Family Pictures

I don't know what I was thinking, but we decided to have professional pics taken just one week after Carson was born. I am so glad I was crazy enough to book this, because they are wonderful!!

Our little man is here! September 2, 2008

Family of four

Carson Kyle Darby arrived at 10:53am on Tuesday, September 2. He weighed 7lbs. even and was 19 3/4 inches long. He has a head full of jet black hair and big, beautiful eyes! We pulled out newborn pics last night to see who he looks the most like, and actually, it's Alex! They look so much alike at birth! Everyone is doing great and we are getting adjusted to life as a family of four. I still can't believe we got one of each-- I am so excited to learn all about my son. He is such a little love and is so content! He is super alert and is already giving out smiles every now and then. Alex is starting to warm up to him too. She's been a great little helper with diaper changes and yesterday she sang him songs and read books to him while he napped. It was adorable.

We have a TON of pictures already....and someday I'll get them posted.
Thank you for your sweet thoughts and prayers. We are so blessed to have our son finally here! Come see us!

2024 Hopeful? I think not....

Alex started gymnastics again three weeks ago, and she is in heaven! Well, her mommy is for sure! With all of the Olympic coverage, I've really enjoyed watching her learn "tricks at sticks." She loves going to "sticks" and her coach, Eli, is terrific.
Peeking over the wall to check out the competition...
Getting a stamp from her coach.

We are in SO much trouble with this little girl!

To be completely honest, it's a total joke. The best part are the leotards! It's out of control.

Bring on the baby!

We are finally ready for this little guy to get here! Nathan and I got Carson's room 98% finished this weekend. As you can see in the pics, we still have a few things to fix (there is still one of Alex's girly knobs on the dresser and we are going to by dark wooden hooks for the art over the crib) but now you can get the idea of what his nursery looks like! We are having a custom cross painted for the wall as well. The picture frames include original photography I took while we were at Fossil Rim of baby giraffe and zebras. That was a fun little personal addition. I really struggled finding the bedding and patterns. Most all of the boy nurseries are a theme like "sports" but I really wanted to find something funky and artistic. Carson will be into cars and football soon enough and then mom won't get a vote. I am just so relieved to have it done! And thank you Nathan for all of the painting!!! He has been such a trooper since coming home from California-- he's been put to work in a serious way and has had an amazing attitude and we've really enjoyed getting ready for the baby together.
